In the Desktop Tower Defense Game, players have to defend their desktop against the oncoming army of creeps. These little things have to run the gauntlet from the left side of the desktop to the right, moving around barriers and being shot at by towers the whole way. The goal is to destroy as many of the creeps in all their varieties as possible, and to stop them from getting to the other side of the desktop and causing the player damage.
Gameplay and Controls
The Desktop Tower Defense Game has some very simple controls, and it’s extremely easy for anyone to play. Players are given a selection of towers, and a certain amount of money. Players left click on the towers, and then left click again to place them on the field. The tower’s location, as well as the radius that it fires in, will make it very clear just how much of a threat it is to the creeps. In order to get more money for more towers, players have to destroy creeps. The more creeps they destroy, the more money they earn, and the stronger a defense players can muster against the encroaching creep menace.
Tips and Tricks
When players put their first towers into play, they have all the time in the world. It’s important to stagger them across the field, and to overlap their spheres of fire. That way multiple towers can shoot single enemies, and there’s no point where the creeps are safe. This will be fine for the first wave or two, but players will need to add more towers very quickly.
Players should build up an assault force that takes out creeps quickly right at the far left. Creeps have to move around towers, so putting them right in the way means that creeps take longer to cross the field, and it gives the towers more time to do their jobs. Place lots of squirters, as well as a few freeze towers, right near the entrance, and make sure there are dart towers that can reach the front line. From that point stagger out the towers so that there are always multiple towers dealing out punishment, and that the line creeps are going to have to take is a relatively clear one. This allows players to predict where the nasty little buggers are going to go, and just how to set a trap for them.
Lastly, watch the gauge at the bottom of the screen. It tells players precisely when the next wave is coming, and even what sort of wave it is. That is helpful information to have when there’s only a handful of seconds to prepare.
